Even the weeds were beautiful at Inverness Beach Village, a campground overlooking the Northumberland Strait on Cape Breton’s west coast where I stayed during part of my international research summer.

I picked the spunky purple flowers while strolling back from the laundry and tossed them on the rickety picnic table with my travel buddy’s fiddle, bow, and Cape Breton fiddle tunes, which were waiting in the tree-filtered sunshine with an old-school enamel mug and an Outward Bound-era bowl.

All I did to capture the image was pull out my camera.
