I feel like food is such a relaxing way to be creative—and an easy way to let people know that you care about them.

People’s problems can often be solved with butter and sugar, and conversations are always better when they’re over a plate of something homemade.

I’ll also admit that baking is a great incentive to get people to come to your club meetings, and that if you serve your famous brownies at the end of the meeting instead of the beginning, there are a lot fewer people who have to leave halfway through.

I’m always surprised that more college students don’t cook or bake, because they’re fundamentally about following directions, deciding when to ignore directions, and knowing what tastes good.
