To look at this in a more contemporary context, I have a selection from an e-mail from President Obama last fall:
“When you and I set out on this journey three years ago, we knew this would be a lengthy struggle to build a new foundation for this country, one that would require squaring off against the special interests who have spent decades stacking the deck in their favor.”
So we’re engaged in some kind of wrestling match that’s also a card game.
